Assistant Crown Counsel

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation to the Government in matters that affect all New Zealanders, particularly in the areas of criminal, public and administrative law. Our teams work on some of the most important and high profile cases in the country, ranging from the enforcement of criminal law, to the protection of revenue, to matters of human rights and the Treaty of Waitangi.

As Assistant Crown Counsel, you will be immersed in high quality work, receive exposure to all parts of government and work with some of the best legal talent in the country. You will work with the guidance of our senior counsel across a diverse range of matters, as well as gain practical litigation experience. We are recruiting permanent roles for all our legal teams, with flexible start dates between now and March 2020. The roles will be based in our Wellington office.

This is an exciting opportunity for junior lawyers with a passion for the law, looking to develop an intellectually challenging career and make a contribution to the broader community. You will be joining an organisation that values work-life balance and flexibility, and prides itself on creating opportunities for our team to grow. Our leadership role within the Government Legal Network will see you access a range of professional development opportunities as well as work as part of a broader network of approximately 1200 lawyers working for the Crown.

To be considered for a position at Crown Law you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand and will be required to complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check.
